Machrihanish Golf Club

Machrihanish Golf Club is located near the southern tip of the Kintyre peninsula, approximately 35 miles across the sea from western Scotland and 20 miles across the sea from Northern Ireland. The initial layout was just 10 holes, played according to the rules laid out by The Prestwick Golf Club. In 1879, Old Tom Morris further extended the course to 18 holes, at which time the iconic opening tee was moved to its current location. Machrihanish is as remote, rugged and natural links in the world and is a traditional out-and-back that wraps around the beach heading out away from the village.
